Scrutineering and registrations started today

Scrutineering and registration for the competition began today in Tábor under cloudy skies with occasional showers. A break in the weather around noon provided a two-hour window, allowing for a few successful training launches. The forecast for the coming days remains uncertain, with different weather models showing variable predictions. We are monitoring the situation closely and hope for more opportunities to fly.

One more week to go

It is now only one more week until the training period begins, and there are a few important updates and reminders to share.

Please familiarise yourself with the tie-down area and camping area maps before arrival; they are available in the Documents section. If you arrive before Saturday, May 31st, you can contact Jiří Lískovec at +420 739 275 750 for assistance and to arrange launches. Please also remember that the airfield will fully close after June 22nd, and all caravans and trailers need to be removed before then.

Please make sure to upload all documents online before registration, as this will significantly speed up the process. As a reminder, all pilots require a slot for scrutineering and registration; please reserve a slot if you have not already done so. Team captains do not require a slot for registration; they can come at any time between 9:00 and 18:00, starting from Monday.

If your country has not already nominated a team captain, please do so as soon as possible and make sure that the team captain completes the online entry form.

Links to join the official communication channels have been sent via email. All daily information will be sent via the Competitors group chat. The Official Notice Board group replaces a physical notice board, and only information that would normally be published there will be sent to the group. Team captains will also have access to a separate group that allows communication with the organisers and is also used for reporting outlandings.

If you have any questions or requests, you can contact us at info@wgc2025.cz.

We can’t wait to welcome you all in Tábor very soon!

Important arrival and departure information

Please be aware that the earliest possible arrival date to the airfield is on Monday 26th May. We will not be able to accommodate any caravans or trailers beforehand.

Even more importantly, the airfield will be fully closed from Monday 23rd of June due to a music festival. For this reason it is absolutely necessary that all caravans and trailers are removed on Sunday 22nd at the latest. Please make sure to inform any people who might be picking up caravans/trailers for you.

In case of questions you can email us at info@wgc2025.cz. Arrivals before Saturday 31st of May should be reported to Aeroclub Chairman Jiří Lískovec at +420 739 275 750 with whom you can also arrange launches before the traning period begins.

One more month to go

In one month, the Championships will begin, and we can’t wait to welcome you all to Tábor soon!

In the meantime, here are a few important updates and reminders:

The Selfbriefing has been published in the Documents section. Please familiarize yourself with it before arrival.

Please continue to book slots for scrutineering and registration. Booking a slot for technical inspection is mandatory! Also, please continue to upload your documents to the online entry form, as this will greatly speed up the registration process. Additionally, please ensure you update your accommodation details in the entry form to accurately indicate whether you will be staying at the campsite, as we will be assigning space based on this information.

Be aware of the requirement for strobe lights on all competing sailplanes. Make sure that your strobe lights comply with Annex A 4.1.1d.

Following IGC guidance, we will be much stricter with enforcing Annex A requirements for contest numbers. Please ensure that your contest number is in a “plain block style with a single color that contrasts strongly with the sailplane’s background color.” Futhemore, they need to be at least 30 cm in height. During the EGC and JWGC, many contest numbers did not follow this rule, and this year, gliders that do not comply with this rule will not be able to complete the technical acceptance check and thus will not be allowed to compete until the contest number has been modified to comply with Annex A. All fonts that are not simple and clear will be deemed in violation of this rule; furthermore, contest numbers where only the outline or shadowing of the letters are shown are also not compliant. If in doubt, email a photo of your contest number to info@wgc2025.cz and we can confirm if you contest number will be accepted.

About a week before training period begins, we will be sending you more arrival instructions and additional updates.

One week left for entries

There is now only one week left to submit entries.

All entries, NAC Nomination Forms, and entry fees must be received by February 28th, 2025, 23:59 Central European Time (UTC+1).

Only pilots who have successfully submitted an online entry, been nominated by their NAC via the NAC Nomination Form, and paid their entry fee in full by the deadline will be considered for the pilot selection process as described in Appendix 1 of Annex A. All other entries will be considered late, and remaining places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis once all three conditions (online entry, NAC nomination, and entry fee payment) have been met, up to the maximum number of entries per class and overall for the Championships.

At this time, most pilots do not meet the requirements for their entries to be accepted. If you have already submitted your online entry, please ensure that your NAC has also submitted the NAC Nomination Form and that your entry fees have been paid. If you (or someone you know) have not yet submitted an online entry, please do so before the deadline.

Confirmation of accepted entries and received entry fees will be published on the competitors’ list page in the week following the closure of entries and the IGC Plenary meeting.

For submission of late entries after the deadline has passed, please communicate your intention by contacting the Organiser using the official email address info@wgc2025.cz.

For any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Entries are now open!

Official entries for the 39th FAI World Gliding Championships are now open.

All pilots and team captains must register online using the Entry Form available on this website. Additionally, each competing NAC must submit a Nomination Form to confirm the nomination of their team pilots and team captain. Finally, each pilot/team must pay the entry fee by following the instructions provided in Bulletin No. 1. Entries, nomination forms, and entry fees are all due by February 28th, 2025.

Only pilots who have completed all the requirements on time will be considered in the Pilot Selection Process, as described in Appendix 1 of Annex A. The IGC Country Ranking effective as of February 28th, 2025, will be used. Acceptance of entries will be confirmed after the IGC Plenary confirms the maximum number of participants for the championships. Late entries may be considered, subject to available spaces and the decision of the Organiser. Team captains are allowed to register after the deadline but are encouraged to register as soon as possible.

Pilots are also invited to reserve a time for the technical acceptance check (scrutineering) and registration on the Time Reservation page. Team captains do not need to reserve a time slot for registration.

The Entry Form includes an option to upload your personal and glider documents. While this does not need to be completed before the submission deadline, it will be required before registration. To access the Time Reservation and change/add data the Entry Form, please use the password sent to you by email after the entry form is submitted.

If you have any questions or uncertainties, please contact us at info@wgc2025.cz.

We look forward to welcoming you all to Tábor this year!
